The pond is always evolving and growing - hard to believe I've only had it going a year!
It was just starting to sprinkle when I went out to feed the goldfish April 25th (2003) -
you can see them skimming the food off the surface if you click the photo below.
I just bought a new waterfall filter and an 800gph pump and hadn't yet buried the 1 inch reinforced tubing that connects them.
I'm also going to surround the waterfall filter with stone to make it more natural. It just arrived via UPS today!
Its early in the season but you can see the zoysia grass I'm trying to grow in the front of the picture -
once its really warm and sunny it should take off - and it should all grow together.
A view of the Pond April 1st, 2003 - after I filled in soil and cedar-mulched to level it with the side of the pond.
Its a very warm day, the bushes are greening up nice, but the azaleas have not yet bloomed (click to enlarge).
Here's a picture from Feb 7, 2003 - all snowed in! (Click to enlarge)
April 2002 - a year earlier. After I'd dug up a corner of the pond,
I cleared most of the ivy all around the pond area and mulched it heavily!
Notice that I have not yet dug the pond out in this picture, and that the "creek" on the left
doesn't exist yet, there are ferns through the center ... but I had dug enough around the edges
to discover the outline of the pond. I just hadn't decided what I was going to do yet.
(Note the big weed/trash pile in the lower right corner by the tree.)
When we moved in, we didn't even know the pond was there, it had been filled in years before, and the backyard had gone wild and to weed!
