We stayed at The Great Barn part of Claymont Court -
you can see The Octagon here - the rest of the barn with the guest rooms is in the long part of the building.
We had a wonderful time but it was very cold that weekend - in the mid 20s most of the time.
Fortunately it was cozy and toasty inside - and the Claymont folks cook excellent food!
They served a butternut squash soup for lunch saturday that was to die for ...!
This pond was located along the road between the barn and the mansion.
Friday night after worship we had a drumming session. After a half hour a bunch of us sturdy souls decided
to go brave the Octagon for its awesome sound, look and feel - even if it was mostly unheated !
It was chilly, but out of the wind - and the night of drumming was a very powerful thing.
(This is the inside view of the building above.)
Saturday during some free time a group of us hiked across the cold fields to go see the main Mansion.
Another group was using the Mansion and we didn't want to disturb them!
Of course - the mansion is a gorgeous building - perhaps we'll get a closer look next time!
Rev Kharma just before she blessed the Friday night supper.
(Kudos to Donna and Ginny for the yummy chicken parmigiana!)
